French President Names IUPUI Professor a "Chevalier"
IUPUI Professor Eric M. Meslin, director of the Indiana University Center for Bioethics, was named a Chevalier de L'Ordre National du Merite - Knight of the National Order of Merit - by the President of France.
In an April 23, 2008, ceremony at the French Embassy in Washington, D.C., Meslin received the Chevalier insignia from French Ambassador Pierre Vimont. The award is given for "distinguished civil and military achievements." Meslin's award recognizes his work on behalf of the collaborative of bioethics in France.
