The IUPUI Police Department on May 5 swore in three police officers and one police sergeant, bringing the number of the department's sworn officers to 33.

Isaac McLaurin, Thomas Remender and John Benton are IUPUI's newest police officers. John Coy is a newly sworn police sergeant. Bringing more than 24 years of law enforcement experience to the IUPUI Police Department, the four men will strengthen the department in its work of making IUPUI a safe place.

Officer McLaurin, Officer Remender and Sergeant Coy will assume assigned shifts after completing orientation and field training. Officer John Benton will attend the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy starting May 12
