IUPUI Fields Two Karts in Purdue Grand Prix

When the 2008 Purdue Grand Prix starts at 2:30 p.m. Saturday (April 16, 2008), two IUPUI cars and their drivers, will take to the track along with 31 cars from the Purdue West Lafayette campus.

The #25 IUPUI kart driven by Jon Laski will start in the 8th position, while the #70 IUPUI kart driven by IUPUI Motorsports Club President, Lynsey Tilton, will roll off in the 22nd starting spot. All other cars are from Purdue's West Lafayette campus.

This year's race marks the second year that an IUPUI Kart has qualified for the event.

Laski qualified on the front row for IUPUI last year and was one of the fastest karts on the track during the 2007 race before a mechanical failure took his chance for victory.

Qualification runs were held April 14, after rain and snow flurries cancelled the proceedings originally scheduled for April 12.

For additional information contact Lynsey Tilton, IUPUI Motorsports Club President, ldtilton@iupui.edu; or Pete Hylton, IUPUI Motorsports Director, phylton@iupui.edu.
