Paul Norris Elected Sergeant-at-Arms of Indiana Chiefs
IUPUI Police Chief Paul E Norris Jr., was recently elected to the position of Sergeant - at - Arms for the Indiana Association of Chiefs of Police. (IACP) This group represents all of the chiefs of police in the State of Indiana.
Under the current bylaws Chief Norris will eventually rise to the Presidency of the IACP which will make him the first African American to serve as the President of the Indiana Chiefs.
Chief Norris has a list of first in his history including; Chief of the IU Police Department in Bloomington (1993-2001) which made him the first African American Chief at IU Bloomington and also the first at a Big Ten Campus, First full-time African American instructor at the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy (1979-82).Chief Norris was also named the first African American to be Police Chief at the prestigious University Of Virginia which was founded by Thomas Jefferson. (2001-2005)
Chief Norris is a graduate of the F.B.I. National Academy and Indiana University.
