Consortium for Learning and Scholarship Formed

The Office of Academic Affairs is pleased to announce the formation of the Consortium for Learning and Scholarship (CLS), a strategic alliance among three key campus centers: (a) the Center for Research and Learning, (b) the Center for Service and Learning, and (c) the Center for Teaching and Learning.

Effective January 1, 2008, the Consortium for Learning and Scholarship will work with the IUPUI campus to further campus-wide programs and activities directly related to IUPUI's urban mission, including those that result in improved student learning and success and that increase faculty scholarship. To enact this mission, the consortium will provide leadership and support in three areas: (a) experiential learning (e.g., undergraduate research, service learning, internships, international and cross-cultural experiences); (b) faculty work that draws on and/or addresses urban issues in teaching, research, and service; and (c) activities that promote and foster an inclusive campus climate.

Executive leadership for the new consortium is shared by Megan Palmer, interim executive director of the Center for Teaching and Learning, Robert Bringle, executive director of the Center for Service and Learning and Kathryn Wilson, executive director of the Center for Research and Learning, the three centers which comprise the consortium.
