Black History Month Kick-Off set for January 31
Student Life will kickoff the 2008 celebration of Black History Month during a reception from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 31, 2008, in the IUPUI Campus Center, Room 148.
Students, staff and faculty are all invited to attend this informal event to discuss upcoming events and programs.
The calendar of events for Black History Month includes:
Marching Toward Justice
Campus Center - Cultural Arts Gallery (2nd Floor)
Jan. 18 - Feb. 29
This display, a tribute to U.S. Supreme Court Justice Thurgood Marshall, includes more than 100 photographs and other images telling the story of those who committed themselves to the creation and enforcement of the 14th Amendment. The story begins with the arrival of captive Africans to English colonial America in 1619 and ends with the admittance of nine African American students to Central High in Little Rock, Arkansas in 1957. Admission to the exhibit is free of charge and open to the general public. The exhibit is open 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., Monday through Saturday; 1 to 7 p.m. Sunday.

"Amistad" Film Screening

"Amistad" is an educational and historic film that addresses the experiences of African American's aboard the Amistad in 1839. An open panel discussion will follow.
