IUPUI Faculty Member Receives Fulbright Award
Nancy Van Note Chism, Professor of Education at the Indiana University School of Education, IUPUI, has been awarded a Fulbright Scholar grant to lecture and consult with universities in Thailand during Spring 2008, according to the United States Department of State and the J. William Fulbright Foreign Scholarship Board.
Chism will focus on faculty, helping Thai colleges and universities to support the work of teaching and scholarship. She consults and publishes extensively on faculty and organizational development issues in higher education. Chism served for seven years as the Associate Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs and Associate Dean of the Faculties at Indiana University Purdue University Indianapolis. Prior to that assignment, she was Director of Faculty and TA Development at The Ohio State University. She was educated at Fordham University, Smith College, and The Ohio State University.
Established in 1946 under legislation introduced by the late Senator J. William Fulbright of Arkansas, the Program's purpose is to build mutual understanding between the people of the United States and the rest of the world. It is America's flagship international educational exchange program, sponsored by the United States Department of State, Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs. The program operates in over 150 countries worldwide.
Recipients of Fulbright awards are selected on the basis of academic or professional achievement, as well as demonstrated leadership potential in their fields.
