IUPUI Student Lands Pixar Residency, Will Assist Toy Story 3 Production

IUPUI INFORMATICS PROFESSOR IS RECIPIENT OF PRESTIGIOUS INTERCAMPUS RESEARCH AWARD

Feb. 6, 2008 — A research proposal submitted by Gunther Schadow, associate professor, IU School of Informatics, is one of five projects selected recently for funding by the Intercampus Applied Research Program (IARP) Awards. IARP is a joint initiative between Indiana University Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI) and Purdue University-West Lafayette to support practical, world-class research. Dr. Schadow is also a Regenstrief Institute investigator, and co-director of the Signature Center for Computational Diagnostics.   Full Story

IUPUI INFORMATICS PROFESSORS RESEARCH MEDICAL RECORD TEXT-MINING

Feb. 6, 2008 — Malika Mahoui and Josette Jones, both assistant professors with the IU School of Informatics at IUPUI, know that medical discoveries and health care improvements lay buried in the mountains of digital data generated daily by hospitals, clinics, doctors and nurses. Thanks to a funding grant from the National Institutes of Health, Mahoui and Jones are helping Dr. Patrick Jamieson, Logical Semantics, Inc., build computer tools to mine those data.   Full Story
