Murtadha Selected as Associate Vice Chancellor for Lifelong Learning and Executive Director of the Community Learning Network at IUPUI

May 16, 2008 — IUPUI Chancellor Charles R. Bantz today announced the selection of Khaula Murtadha as the Associate Vice Chancellor for Lifelong Learning and Executive Director of the Community Learning Network at IUPUI, pending approval by the IU Board of Trustees. Murtadha is currently an Associate Professor in the Department of Educational Leadership and Policy Studies in the Indiana University School of Education at IUPUI. Her research interests include effective educational leadership in urban schools and the impact of African American women in city school reform efforts.

Murtadha Awarded Madame C. J. Walker Outstanding Woman of the Year Award

March 14, 2008 — The Center for Leadership Development (CLD) presented Khaula Murtadha, a faculty member with the IU School of Education at IUPUI, with its 2008 Madame C. J. Walker (Outstanding Woman of the Year) Award.   Full Story

IUPUI Faculty Member Receives Fulbright Award

Dec. 21, 2007 — Nancy Van Note Chism, Professor of Education at the Indiana University School of Education, IUPUI, has been awarded a Fulbright Scholar grant to lecture and consult with universities in Thailand during Spring 2008, according to the United States Department of State and the J. William Fulbright Foreign Scholarship Board.   Full Story

IUPUI Receives $749,933 National Science Foundation Grant for Science Teacher Education Program

Nov. 1, 2007 — Science educators in the School of Science and the IU School of Education at Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI) have announced that they have been awarded one of 16 competitive National Science Foundation (NSF) Robert Noyce Scholarship grants to encourage undergraduate science students to become high school or middle school teachers. The 4-year grant will fund scholarships worth up to $12,200 per year for up to two years to 30 students in the School of Science in an attempt to meet the statewide demand for science teachers in Indiana. Noyce Scholars commit to teaching at least two years in an urban or high-need school district after graduation.   Full Story

Kenyan Education Professors Visiting School of Education at IUPUI

Oct. 23, 2007 — Two professors from the Moi University School of Education are in Indiana to learn how to improve teacher training in Kenya. The IU School of Education at IUPUI is working on a continuing relationship with the school of education at Moi University, located in Eldoret, Kenya, a city in the western portion of the country, about 192 miles northwest of Nairobi.   Full Story
