2008 — IUPUI's Tourism, Conventions and Event Management (TCEM) Department has received three awards totaling $650,000 from the Efroymson Fund of the Central Indiana Community Foundation to fund a new lecture series, provide study abroad opportunities for its students and extend support for an annual cultural tourism conference that features a $25,000 prize.

2007 — Overall, Indianapolis residents who participated in a survey conducted by the IUPUI Department of Tourism, Conventions and Event Management gave their health, lifestyle, and city high marks. Downtown Indianapolis received a lower mark when it came to how residents perceive how safe they are there after dark. Perceptions about nighttime safety downtown have slipped for three consecutive years.
