Expert on Innovative Education to Keynote IU School of Nursing Faculty Event

Aug. 6, 2008 — Patricia A. Martin, PhD, RN, Dean and Professor, College of Nursing and Health, Wright State University, Dayton, Ohio will make the keynote address entitled "Reviewing the American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN) Baccalaureate Essentials: Journey toward a preferred future" during the Indiana University School of Nursing's (IUSON) Mary E. Culbertson Symposium. Nursing faculty from all eight IUSON campuses around the state will convene on Monday, August 18, 2008, 9:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m., at the University Place Conference Center and Hotel on the campus of IUPUI to learn more about the educational framework for the preparation of professional nurses.   Full Story

President Bush Appoints Victoria Champion to National Cancer Advisory Board

July 24, 2008 — Victoria L. Champion, Associate Dean for Research, Edward W. and Sara Stam Cullipher Endowed Chair, Mary Margaret Walther Distinguished Professor at the Indiana University School of Nursing was recently appointed to the National Cancer Advisory Board by President George Bush. IU School of Nursing Receives $712,000 Grant from HRSA

July 24, 2008 — The Indiana University School of Nursing (IUSON) has received a $712,000 3-year Advanced Nursing Education Grant from the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) at the U. S. Department of Health and Human Services. According to Dr. Dan J. Pesut, PhD, APRN, BC, CCNS, FAAN, Associate Dean for Graduate Programs at IUSON, "This is a significant award that will help meet the need for advanced practice psychiatric mental health nurses in the state of Indiana and nationally. Mary L. Fisher Appointed Associate Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs

April 14, 2008 — The office of the Executive Vice Chancellor and Dean of the Faculties is pleased to announce the appointment of Mary L. Fisher, Professor in the School of Nursing, and Chair of the Department of Environments for Health, to succeed Sharon J. Hamilton as the Associate Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs.   Full Story

School of Nursing Researchers Featured at 2008 Midwest Nursing Research Society Conference

March 27, 2008 — Indiana University School of Nursing researchers present key findings on behavioral research, or the individual's response to disease and chronic illness, at the 2008 MNRS Research Conference - Nursing Research: At the Crossroads of Global Health hosted jointly by the Indiana and Purdue University School's of Nursing. Dr. Austin's major research interests focus on family adaptation to childhood epilepsy. She is currently funded by the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke (NIH) and the National Institute of Nursing Research (NINR) to study adaptation to childhood epilepsy.
